It's Official.......I can start decorating without making Jeffrey too growly. If I start to soon he
gets grumpy, however, he did help me put up some lights outside last weekend! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope that everyone else did too. Cherokee and her mom made dinner and it was YUMM!! We missed having Emma, Damion and Daunee' home but it was great that everyone else got to be together. Christmas will be different -- EVERYONE will be here. YIPPEE!! I can't wait.

Brick 17

Brick 17 - yes, the 'haunted' brick got a Christmas face lift this week. On Sunday Laurie, Kay, JoAnn, Debbie and myself braved the cold winds and started decorating the old brick. Today we put the finishing touches on the 2nd and 3rd floor. If we don't blow any fuses, or breakers it should be very pretty when the lights come on Dec. 5th at 5 p.m. Its been a little bit of a competition between Jim and myself on whose unit looked the best and although Adobe 7 has looked like a little gingerbread house it just didn't make the grade that the grand daddy of all bricks (Brick19) did. This year. since we took over a brick and gave Chubb Water Wells the adobe,  we are going to give Jim a run for his money! Be sure to make a drive through during Dec. to see the lights. Oh, and if you feel like it, be sure to tell Mike, Jim and the guys how GREAT Brick 17 looks:)
LOOK OUT JIM -- HERE WE COME!!

You can't hide chocolate from three year olds!

I had the greatest time last night. Jaxon and Kamden spent the evening with me while the girls celebrated Phaedra's birthday. Being the good grandma that I am (tee hee) I pulled out the bag of chocolates to intice the little ones to eat their dinner. Kamden was a trooper and ate most everything, however Jax was much to busy to eat, giving all of the animals, dolls etc. in the toy box flu shots and checking their teeth. Soooooo, Kamden got a piece of candy, but not Jax. He didn't really care about the concept 'if you don't eat your supper you don't get a piece of candy' and was a tad bit upset with me, so I told him the candy was all gone. HA! He crawls up on my lap looks me directly in my eye and says "Grandma Debbie....I can smell it". What a chocolate hound! Anyway the evening was spent watching the two of them play, their imagination is out of this world and Jeff and I laughed and laughed watching and playing with them. We also had to eat plates of 'chew' (whatever that was); get our flu shot and have the dentist fix our teeth; lost our power when we had our shoes removed (ok that was an idea I gave Jaxon while taking papa's shoes off one night when we were batman and Optumus Prime ..sp); run circles around the footstool on our imaginary track; bake cookies; wear pom poms on our head to look like clowns....and the list goes on. On these nights I am always grandma, even to Kamden who usually calls me 'aunt Bob' , and it is so funny to watch her come up with reasons to talk to me so she can call me grandma..kind of like when you use a cuss word that is legal. You know, when you repeat something that someone else said, so you can use the cuss word because they used it first. Anyway what a night we had! I LOVE being grandma.

P.S. Good luck Jaxon at the dentist office today and getting your flu shot!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It is just a hustle and a bustle out to the Fort with Christmas decorations springing up overnight. The guys are like little elves running around with strings of lights drapped over their shoulders, checking bulbs and climbing ladders. A LOT of work goes into decorating the buildings out here - businesses, groups, individuals...they all put in so much time and effort into making this a site to see in December. It is great for the economy too as hundreds of people drive out here to look at the decorations. I am very proud of our area for their interest in making this a better place. KUDOS to all of you who donate your time, enegry and money to "Light Up The Fort". Be sure to stop in starting Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. to see the Fort up and shining!

It's time!

It's time to start decorating for Christmas........well at the Fort anyway. Today Brenda and I sat down and made a plan for centerpieces for the Historical Dinner. It should be pretty to say the least. Our  colors are blue, silver and white and we are celebrating the year 1945. That was a busy time at the Fort. We were a remount station and a P.O.W. camp so there was a lot of activity. The lime light will be on a horse by the name of "Old Gordon Russell". A stud horse used to breed some of the finest thoroughbreds ever born. So decorations will be something to do with horseshoes, (and snowflakes)  can't wait to get our hands in the middle of pine boughs, old horseshoes, thistles, twigs, pine cones, whatever we can find on the land to work with. Anyone wanting to get their hands dirty, let me know.

Taylor and Emma are coming...

Taylor and Emma will be here this weekend, that is IF the roads aren't to bad for Greg to pick Emma up. We can't wait to see them. I hope the weather is better than today so we can spend sometime outside.  Taylor is getting his first deer hunting permit this weekend and can't wait to go hunting with his dad at Deer Camp!

Pokey Dots

HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY POKEY

Trick or Treat....

Jaxon was so excited to Trick Or Treat with his cousin Adrianne; They looked so cute marching down the street together. Adrianne was a little angel (of course) and she looked adorable in her little dress, slippers and crown. Jax wore his Frankenstein costume even though he really wanted to be Bat Man. Next year little man..........

Halloween night  was perfect, the moon was  up and shining and kids were running around everywhere trick or treating. Jaxon was so excited about me being Bat Man, even though I had to wear underpants over my clothes to play the part,  it was fun.  We flew around the yard and around the neighborhood until we were just so tired we couldn't go any more.  (Believe me only for one of my grannies would I have worn those clothes in public)

Talon and Jaxon had a blast together. Last year we pulled them in a wagon and helped them up the steps, but this year they did it all on their own. They ran and ran, trick or treating throughout the town. It was just great fun to watch. On the way we ran into many friends and family. We can't wait for next year.
